We’re on a mission to get people to grow chickpeas. There are few more rewarding plants! Hummus is great but the real pleasure in growing chickpeas is to be able to enjoy them fresh. In Lebanon they are a roadside snack beloved by kids--pop them right into your mouth out of the pod which has a slightly salty and sour taste. In Mexico fresh chickpea season is eagerly awaited and they roast the green pods right over a fire. Plant in full sun in Spring when you’d plant peas. We’ve also had success growing a late Summer and Fall crop.
